You can often source second-hand equipment on local buy & sell sites. Comrie's Sports Equipment Bank in Calgary provides gently used sports equipment for low income families in need.

This is an un-parented program. However, GHC is volunteer-based organization, and the success of our programs depends on volunteers. We require parent volunteers who are willing to assist our instructors as on-ice helpers.

Individuals who volunteer as on-ice helpers require the following:

• CSA Certified Helmet
• Hockey gloves
• Skates
• Stick

No. Jr. Inferno First Strides will focus on skating and basic hockey skill development, while incorporating fun activities and informal, small-area games. There will be no formal hockey games in the Jr. Inferno First Strides program.

Our Jr. Inferno First Strides program is an optional development-orientated program for girls who are interested in discovering hockey before joining a minor hockey team.

• One hour per week for 16 sessions.
• Consistent ice times and rink location.
• No formal league games, tournaments or travel.
• No fundraising.

No. Players are not required to complete the Jr. Inferno First Strides program in order to register for our GHC U7 (Timbits) or U9 programs. Our Jr. Inferno First Strides program is an optional development-orientated program for girls who are interested in discovering hockey before joining a minor hockey team.

Participants may not registered in another GHC program. First Strides is geared towards girls aged 4-8 who have limited skating experience and want to discover hockey in a fun, non-competitive environment.

More experienced skaters who live in Calgary may want to consider registering for the Girls Hockey Calgary U7 (Timbits) or U9 programs.

Participants must live inside GHC's registration boundary (Hockey Calgary Zone 9 - City of Calgary) to register for Jr. Inferno First Strides.
