Adrenalin Source for Sports HERshift Scholarship Fund Criteria

The Adrenalin Source for Sports HERshift Scholarship Fund supports graduating Girls Hockey Calgary (GHC) players who have demonstrated excellence in hockey, academics, and community service. This scholarship aims to assist players in their pursuit of post-secondary education while recognizing their contributions to the game and their community. Candidates can be from both Inferno or Fire.

Eligibility Criteria:
 To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. GHC Participation:
    • Must be a registered player in Girls Hockey Calgary during their U18 year.
    • Must have played a minimum of three seasons within GHC.
  2. Academic Achievement:
    • Must demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum average of 75% (or equivalent GPA) in their final year of high school.
    • Must provide a transcript or official proof of grades.
  3. Hockey Excellence:
    • Must exhibit dedication, sportsmanship, and leadership within their team.
    • Must be in good standing with GHC and uphold the values of the organization.
  4. Volunteer & Community Involvement:
    • Must have actively participated in volunteer work within GHC or the broader community.
    • Examples include coaching, officiating, mentoring younger players, or community service initiatives.
  5. Post-Secondary Enrollment:
    • Must be accepted into a recognized post-secondary institution (college, university, or trade school) for the upcoming academic year.
    • Proof of enrollment will be required before funds are disbursed.

Application Process:

  • Applicants must submit a completed application form by the specified deadline – July 6th 2026.
  • 500-word personal statement outlining their hockey journey, academic goals, and volunteer contributions.
  • letter of recommendation from a coach, teacher, or community leader.
  • A copy of their high school transcript and proof of post-secondary acceptance.

Selection & Awarding:

  • Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of GHC representatives and scholarship sponsors.
  • Recipients will be chosen based on their academic standing, hockey commitment, volunteer efforts, and personal statement.
  • The scholarship amount will be determined annually and awarded directly to the recipient.
  • The fund will award up to a total of $2,500 annually to eligible recipients. the number of scholarships awarded and the individual award amounts will be determined based on the number and quality of successful applicants. Each successful applicant will receive a minimum award of $500, with the maximum award amount determined by the total number of recipients selected, not to exceed the annual scholarship fund allocation of $2,500. The scholarship GHC Board of Directors reserves the right to determine the number of awards granted each year based on the applicant pool and the established criteria.
