Applications for the 2026–27 Coaching Season Now Open
Calgary Fire Elite is Calgary’s premier female high-performance hockey program, built on structure, accountability, and competitive excellence. Competing at the highest level of female hockey in Alberta, our program develops athletes and leaders prepared for the next stage of their hockey journey.
Girls Hockey Calgary is now accepting applications for Head and Assistant Coach positions across all 10 Calgary Fire Elite teams:
- U13 AA
- U15 AA
- U18 AA
- U18 AAA
All teams compete in the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL), Alberta’s highest level of female minor hockey competition and the primary pathway to post-secondary and university opportunities.
We are raising the standard of elite female hockey in Calgary, and we are seeking coaches ready to lead within that standard.
THE FIRE ELITE STANDARD
Over the past 12 months, Calgary Fire Elite has intentionally strengthened its performance structure through:
- Structured identification and evaluation systems
- Data-supported skill development integration
- Formalized Goalie Development Committee
- Mental performance programming
- Dedicated athletic therapy alignment
- Elevated governance and bench standards
We are building a program rooted in structure, accountability, development, and culture.
We are seeking coaches who are aligned with that standard.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
We are looking for leaders who:
- Possess strong technical and tactical hockey knowledge
- Understand long-term elite female athlete development
- Can manage bench staff and team operations professionally
- Lead with integrity, accountability, and composure
- Foster competitive, safe, and respectful team environments
- Communicate clearly with athletes, families, and program leadership
This is a high-expectation, high-support environment.
Calgary Fire Elite provides strong divisional leadership, structured evaluation processes, clear governance standards, and program-level development resources to support coaches throughout the season.
THE ROLE
Responsibilities of the position include:

- Planning and leading or supporting all practices and games
- Designing structured, progressive development plans
- Collaborating with Divisional Directors and Development personnel
- Supporting athlete growth on and off the ice
- Upholding all standards set by Hockey Calgary and Girls Hockey Calgary Association
COMPENSATION
Successful applicants will receive an honorarium designed to help offset expenses season-related expenses. Please note, parent coaches, if selected, may not receive compensation.

Operated by Girls Hockey Calgary and governed by Hockey Calgary, Calgary Fire Elite is one of Alberta’s largest and most established female AA/AAA programs.
For more than 30 years, we have developed elite female athletes in Calgary, supporting competitive excellence, leadership development, and advancement to higher levels of hockey.
As we continue to elevate our Elite program, we are seeking coaches who are committed to raising the standard of female hockey in Calgary, on the ice and within our culture.
Only candidates aligned with the Fire Elite standard and long-term athlete development philosophy will be considered.
