About The Firestarter
Showcasing Elite Female Hockey in Western Canada
The GHC Calgary Fire AAA/AA Female Program and its volunteer members created the Calgary Firestarter Tournament in 2016. A tournament of this size raises the profile of AAA/AA female hockey in Western Canada, and provides an opportunity for our athletes to diversify their competition pool. Its preseason timing also informs player selection for club teams.
Many of the athletes who compete in the Firestarter have committed to university or college teams in Canada and the United States. Our teams are a representation of the highest level of amateur female hockey in Western Canada.

Creating Space for Elite Female Athletes
Women’s hockey is Canada’s fastest-growing sport.
The Calgary Fire AAA/AA Hockey Program will welcome 650+ female hockey players and their fans to our city for our Annual Firestarter Tournament, the largest female AAA/AA hockey tournament in Western Canada.
We are seeking sponsorship for our Firestarter tournament as well as our GHC Calgary Fire 2021/22 hockey season. This is a great opportunity for our sponsors to gain exposure while supporting female hockey players.
